More Than Two Dozen Hurt in Incident at Chippewa County Apple Orchard

Twenty-six people were transported to the hospital following an incident at an apple orchard in Chippewa County, Michigan, on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2023. According to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. at the Cranberry Creek Orchard and Vineyard in the town of Dafter.

Witnesses reported hearing a “loud bang” before seeing people running from the orchard. Authorities have not yet released any information on the cause of the incident, but they are investigating. The orchard has been closed until further notice. Most of the injured were treated for minor injuries, but three people were listed in serious condition.
