Surge in Support for Left-Wing Parties in French Legislative Elections
National Rally Secures Crushing Victory, Macron's Party Projected to Gain Seats
Le Pen Sibling Loses Parliamentary Bid in Western France
Paris, France - Left-wing parties experienced a significant surge in support during Sunday's nationwide legislative elections, defying pre-election forecasts.
The National Rally, led by Marine Le Pen, achieved a resounding victory in the first round of voting. The party is projected to become the second largest bloc in the National Assembly, with an expected 150 to 170 seats.
Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron's Ensemble party is projected to retain its position as the largest bloc, albeit with a reduced number of seats. Polls suggest Ensemble could secure around 250 seats in the National Assembly.
In a notable setback for the Le Pen family, Marine-Caroline Le Pen, Marine's sister, lost her bid for a seat in the legislature in western France's Sarthe department.
